I stumbled onto a hand appliqued quilt at a garage sale for the amazing sum of $10. I asked the owner if she knew the history of it, but she didn't. It hangs on my bannister and I enjoy it every day !

Don't know what the name is but it is hand pieced. Hexi side is 3" & diamond pieces from tip to center are 2-1/2". I don't know the situation & didn't ask but I got the impression the older woman was moving to a much smaller house without a lot of storage. A lot of furniture was also for sale. These were her mother's quilts & I'm hoping she & her daughter kept some.

The hexi stars is 70 x 100. The other is 52 X 77 & is the most worn. It has 3 layers of reg cotton as "batting", 1 with very stiff selvage that has worn thru the binding.

You struck gold!! All of them are beautiful, but I just love the one in the 2nd picture. Even though these treasures are now yours, it is almost sad that the original owners' family didn't appreciate them enough to hang on to them.

Wow, here you would never find treasures like that. The antique dealers hit up all sales before they open. Enjoy them!
