Mt. Everest Quilt
#1
Mt. Everest? Why do they climb it? Because it's there!
This quilt is the first one I've made with no purpose in mind. I made it - because it was there!
The fabric was the first Ebay material purchase I made and I bought it cause it was cheap - a jelly roll for $12 - don't remember what I paid for shipping. It's not a Moda, just someone cutting fabric. The "theme" is Civil War reproduction prints.
The pattern is called "Road Block" and is from a book by Kathy Brown: Jelly roll Quilts. I didn't use the exact colors she recommends cause I was using this particular jelly roll - the cheap one, remember? :p
I'm wondering about using the same pattern - it uses 20 light and 20 dark strips - for a quilt of black and red fabrics - using the blacks for the dark and the reds for the lights.... Opinions?
Some of these were really mediums and I just had to fit them in the best I could.
(The bright spot in the pics is from a lamp behind the quilt top.)
