According to Singer this one was made in 1948. The previous owner isn't around any more (unfortunately) to tell me anything about her. But she is a beauty. Been kept in a heated apartment covered up. No serious dirt or anything. She sews but rough, husband is going to fix her up for me. He used to service Singers for my dad who had a mine ventilation manufacturing company so it should be an easy job for him. I'm very excited about her. They're going to refinish the cherry cabinet for me.

Singer has a place on their web site where you can look up the serial number and it tells when it was made.

I have the same machine- I've heard it referred to as a Gorilla, for the rough finish? This post reminds me- my sister refinished the cabinet. Must get it back before she decides it's hers.

Norma is a beautiful crinkle finish machine.

How awesome it is still part of the family.

    Merry Christmas.
    Blessings to you and yours.

Love Norma! She looks like a real workhorse .... probably just like her namesake. Enjoy her!
