My 1st QAYG quilt.
#23
I learned to quilt under a tutor who only used the quilt-as-you-go method. I am happy that I did, because I was able to produce quite a few quilts (complete with hand quilting) in a short time. That in itself was a real encouragement to me as a new quilter. I was able to take blocks along with me in a tote bag and get most of my quilting done in odd places like PTA meetings, doctor's offices and such. I still favor this method even though I really appreciate the smooth backs too. I remember the rail fence and the log cabin were among the first quilts I made.
