i have had these shirts in my closet for four years waiting on this... 2 years ago my mom gave me a "coupon" to get a quilt made by someone else and after talking to several people and getting their prices (and i do know that they are probably so high b/c they do that for a living), i ended up deciding to try to make it my self

i got a simple sewing machine last christmas and got around to getting the process started a week ago (im on break from school, so have had few distractions). it was fairly easy, but ironing on the fusing was a PITA

it came out pretty good... well average... im still learning and dont have much patience for making sure things are cut super strait and then when it comes to pinning and lining things up- well that is not my favorite thing to do

enough talk... here is my pic :D

Is the t-shirts hard to sew with, do they stretch out easily? My husband wears nothing but t-shirts. Might have to try it someday. Thx for sharing. Merry Christmas

i put stabilizer (interfacing/fusing) on the shirts with the intention on that putting off stretching of the tees

picking out which one to pick (non woven, woven, heavy, light weight) was the hardest part because i still know nothing about them... i picked the pellon one with the pinkish label (b/c as i understand it pink = fusible) that had mid or light weigh on it

i ended up not buying enough the first time, and then when i went back, i could not find the same one, but did get something similar which worked

imho the worst part about the stabilizer was the ironing of it on

Looks great!! Yes, that stabilizer is a must for those stretch t-shirts! You talk about cutting a straight line, hopefully you have a rotary cutter and mat with ruler? Cutting with scissors is hard to get straight lines!!!
