Oh My Goodness, I have one with that design that my grandmother made in the 1950's. It is about half that size and is ecru in color. Mine has a couple of small holes I hope to be able to mend someday.

    Yours is beautiful!

Thank you, everyone for all the lovely compliments. It is in my daughter's house, and yes, she cherishes it; therefore the plastic. At least it is on constant display; not in a drawer. It took so long to make it that when finished some motifs were different shades of ecru than others, so I tea dyed it. It is very difficult to wash, block and lay it out since it is so big. I think the size of it is probably why I have so much trouble with my hands now. I still crochet, just not many doilies, or with small crochet hooks. My two grandsons say they can't wait to have that tablecloth in their homes. I guess they will have to take turns having it.

Beautiful table cloth. I know the hours of work in a piece like this.

Thanks for posting the pictures. It is even more beautiful then I imagined it would be. Your daughter is so lucky to have it and the plastic tells me how much she appreciates it and will care for it. I'm so happy to see it will be used and not stored in a drawer for safe keeping. May your family have many happy meals together at that table. Hugs

I have to chuckle at this - my mom started a crocheted table cloth for me before I was born - just "knowing" I was going to be a girl - her gift to me was for my 35th birthday and it was a 60" square - beautiful but she'd wanted it longer; I told her it was just fine, or I'd never get it! and we both laughed and at small gatherings I'd use it so she saw I put it to good use; it still is in with many other crocheted items she has made for me; wonderful memorabilia, as mom has now passed on.

This tablecloth is beautiful that is pictured here - lovely and oh so decorative for a special occasion. Enjoy!

Labor of love would be an understatement. I have always had great intentions to make one of those, but never got off the chain-- :?

Hate to say this but I've been working on a lace tablecloth now for 20 years, had first thought I would have it finished for my oldest daughters wedding, then the youngest daughters wedding, nope not her either. Now my granddaughter is getting married next June hope to maybe get it finished for her wedding if not I have three more granddaughters and the youngest is a year and a half. Other projects just seem to get in the way.

Oh, forgot to say, I made the one for my mom in the 80's and she never had plastic on it. But she took it off when they ate.
