Your tablecovering is gorgeous and what a wonderful heirloom.

My grams made each of her grandd's a crocheted tablecovering and all the grandkids a wool granny square afghan before she died. We still all cherish these. Of course, my DH decided to wash mine one day and now it is half the size it used to be. Someday I will try to resize it, but for now, I have the memories.

Awesome. I have one of these that my aunt made for me, but I am sorry I don't cover it she would roll over in her grave if I would cover it. It washes up beautifully and I have used it for over 40 years. No plastic in my house just my preference.

I find time to quilt because I don't crochet tablecloths or doilies any more. My crocheting is limited to TV viewing or doctors offices. My sewing is whenever I want, which is most of the time.

I wouldn't plasticize it either; that is just my daughter's way. She has cleaning people and wouldn't trust them to dust the tablecloth without ruining it. They destroyed all the fringe on the drapes and bedspread I made in her bedroom.

I think it is entirely different to cover a lace table cloth than it is to cover a quilted one. I have several table cloths that my grandmother tatted and /or crocheted, and they are beautiful. And they too are covered with plastic when used. For one thing, you can't just pop them into the washer and dryer if they get spilled on. A quilted one you can. I wouldn't cover a quilted or fabric table cloth, but one that is lace is a whole 'nuther kettle of fish.

Yours is very beautiful, and I know will be cherished for generations!
