Here are a few detailed pix of my avatar quilt that somebody has asked for. It's one of my most favorites so I love sharing it.
This is a Stack and Whack method. I have no idea where the orig. pattern came from. I've had the pattern for yrs. You can see how every medallion done this way comes out different. That's the fun of it is to see the surprise you get. The border is a paper pieced idea I incorporated into a border. I always try to get a lot of the orig. fabric into a quilt in order to see where the medallions came from. This is one quilt that I made just for ME. I love it.

Thanks for posting! I love the quilt and especially the original fabric! I think I would have had a hard time cutting into such a beautiful print!

Yes, it was very hard. It is gorgeous fabric that I got from eQuilters.
As opposed to the One Block Wonders, this take 12 repeats so it takes a lot of fabric. I always fussy cut to get the best images so that takes more fabric. I usually buy 6 yds. of fabric so I can be sure to have enough for the border.
I can't remember the name of the dark purple fabric but I ran out after deciding to use it in the border. I went back to my LQS & they were out. They reordered it 3 times & it didn't come in so I had to be creative. I ck'd Ebay. I found some in FQs but that wouldn't work. I wrote the seller to see if he had yardage. He did so that solved that prob. I was going crazy wondering what the heck I was going to do if I couldn't find enough to finish the border.

Thank you so much. That is a huge compliment. I think it all depends on how purple is used.
