A few people have asked about the quilt in my avatar. I thought I'd posted it but can't find a post in My Topics, so I guess I just meant to. So here are a few pictures.

I made the quilt last summer while helping my dad care for my terminally ill mom. She had Alzheimers and cancer and it was very difficult time. Naturally depression set in and I needed a way to escape. I came up with this idea for a quilt and set to work. This what I dreamed up.

Some good came from the most difficult time of my life: I learned a few lessons, came to appreciate life, discovered that I can handle more than I ever thought, and gave my mom the love she deserved at a time when she needed me most.

Our old priest used to say this all the time. I'd get tired of the mantra every Sunday, now I'll quote him. Father would be so proud. :-)
"God knows what He is about."

So sorry for your loss, your quilt is a lovely remembrance of your Mother & the time you had with her.

Just gorgeous! That took some planning! I really love the applique in your border. This is a lovely remembrance of your mom.

Beautiful quilt! It looks like it's a wonderful reflection of the love between you and your Mom. I feel for your loss. I lost my Mom who also had something similar to Alzheimer's and lung cancer simultaneously. It was tough but we all also came to realize an inner strength that we didn't know we had. I pray that the memories of your Mom continue to bring you comfort and become a source of inspiration.

Your quilt is very beautiful. Makes me happy just to look at it. Alzheimer's is an awful disease. My mother has it also. I told myself just the other day, "God doesn't give us any more than we can handle".

It is beautiful! I was admiring it in another post, and even went to your etsy site to see if you had a pattern for it. I would love to make one like that.
