nothing wrong with curb crawling. furnished my son's whole nursery that way, dressers, crib, changing table, ANTIQUE high chair, and playpen. all fine wood. someone's kid outgrew them, and you hate to spend big bucks for something you only use for one or two years. we cleaned them with a mild solution of bleach, stripped and refinished everything but the high chair. two dealers have offered for the high chair and the rest got passed down to my nieces. we still have the high chair for visitors. you're right. one man's junk is another, smarter man's treasure. hehehe.
EDIT: we did not use the mattress. puleeze! that we got new.

dh thinks someone was sleeping in their car and tossed it, he saw a pillow. i didn't but it was dark out.

I used to live in some apts in Pasadena, CA that had the BEST dumpsters for 'diving'!! lol My roomie found so much good stuff that we got a space at a collectibles show & made about $300 - $400 --- and most of that was from other dealers before the show even opened! lol
