When I FINALLY get my quilt studio set up, I want to put one on the front of the building. You have 6 children and still have time to do that beautiful quilting. God bless, dear. I only had five & the are now all grown with homes of their own and I loved through it.

    Love your story.
I been wanting to make one.
Are they made out of plywood or what?
    How thick is the wood?
The pattern is just painted on?
How do you attach it to your house?
I do not see any screw holes?
    Sorry so many questions.
    thanks

I meant to say I lived through it, but loved through it works too.

When I was putting up my Halloween decorations outside I was looking at a place high up on the front of my home and thought it would make a great spot for a large wreath at Christmas. Now you have given me a better (and more permanent) idea. Love your barn quilt and now I HAVE to have one! Enjoy.

What kind of wood and paint did you use?

There is a tutorial on-line. Just do a search for barn quilts. But yes..they are just painted on wood. Then treated with a weather proof sealer.
This one was made out of a thin wood...and my Husband just attached brackets on the back and hung it on the house.
There are some others who use thicker wood and drill them in.

We just got a new garden shed up in our back yard. The door faces the side so from the house and the street you see the big blank side of the shed.... I want a barn quilt for the side.. I've been showing them to my husband.. but I'll probably have to end up making it.. oh well... Now what pattern shall I use??
