    Cool My Chevron Mini

After seeing a number of chevrons, I just had to give it a try! This one is 8x10 and looks good hung either way. Here's my 2 patterns for it if you want to try -- a left side and a right side! It's not necessary to get your fabric exactly on the line. I just drew the lines as a guide to help me keep the angles straight sewing the different width prints on. It looks more natural when different width strips are used. Hope you enjoy my mini and please give it a try!!

Is this a muslin foundation? This would make a great block and put in a larger quilt. Thanks for sharing.

Good idea!! Do you know that it is neither muslin pieced or paper pieced! What I did was started with 2 strips RST in the middle of the block and worked both ends by checking periodically my angles were straight by laying the sewn strips on top of the pattern and I was good to go. Once you have the 1st 2 done, everything else will follow thru correctly. (hopefully). I did start one panel off from the top and worked down. Although some people do need to muslin fdn. piece it or PP it, it's a little risque doing my method. I encourage quilters to be brave and try my method.

I forgot to mention that I also intentionally offset the strips to avoid having them meet precisely. When they do meet head-on, they do show off their depth better but the variety of the width of the strips will make up for it in the depth it creates. When I started panel #4 (top pic), I started with the wide orange strip so panel 3 and 4 wouldn't meet head-on. Makes it simpler to do the mini this way and easier!!

I was disappointed with this mini and thought my next try will be even better now that I've done one. I also think 3 panels would've been nicer than adding the 4th.

A whole large size quilt could be done by making the panels wider and longer. Lots of possibilities!! Your welcome, G!!
