Maybe make narrow bias out of the black and stitch together with it and you wouldn't have to turn.

Cute stockings!! And I hear you about the drama and too many presents. I am ready to cut back too. Every year I end up buying things that no one really needs... maybe next year I will only exchange gifts with my two sisters and they will be handmade gifts. I wish my grown kids (son 25 and daughter 21) would appreciate handmade gifts!!
