Default My daughter's hanky quilt is finished

This quilt is for my DD. Some of the hankies belonged to my mother. The other hankies are from the Moda collection ordered on line and many are ones that I ordered on line from a fellow in China. 20 for $25.00. The Moda pattern calls for some of the squares to be fabric only but my DD couldn't give up any of the hankies so we did them in all squares and most triangles. She loved the "piano" border I did on my DGD quilt and wanted it for hers. We also put a bit of lace on the second (piano) border. Had to pre wash the lace and stitch it down for obvious reasons. I had it quilt by my LAQ. I want to thank the quilter who suggested putting the label in the corner and stitching it down with the binding. I love this idea and think it would be difficult to remove if a quilt was stolen.

That is really beautiful...I love the colors and think I might have to go look for some hankies...I would like to know the pattern you used please.

I absolutely LOVE your hanky quilt for your dd! It's so calm and soothing. Was the lace difficult to work with? I have a friend who I now owe a favor to, and she'd like a quilt in the future (if she ever has a daughter) that has lace in it.

Oh I have some hankies...not enough but a start for sure. Love the quilt and I know your DD will really love it, too. Your message on the back is so sweet and special.

Orangeroom - This particular lace was easy in that it lays flat. Fortunately, I had just purchased my new Brother Inova sewing machine and it has an automatic presser foot lift feature. I was able to sew the lace on both edges. I do recommend pre washing this lace as I believe it will scrunch up and not look very nice if not pre washed or attached. I believe I still have the place where I purchased this lace bookmarked so if you want that information, I can give it to you. It came, I believe, in a 12' roll. Yolanda Wood River
