Klue mentioned earlier in this thread about doing a Dear Jane sampler swap. That's what NorBanaquilts may have been talking about.

    you're not.

i did toss out to colletta that maybe next board block swap could be a DJ.

the only thing that might prevent it from happening is not everyone who does the block swaps have the book or the software.

I think a swap would be nice for those who don't want to undertake a whole quilt.

my thoughts exactly - its a good way to determine, either way, if the DJ quilt is for you.

the majority of the blocks/triangles are beginner and intermediate.

    only 38 blocks/triangles/corners are advanced.

188 blocks/triangles/corners are either beginner or intermediate.

Klue, would it be possible to make blocks for a swap - if we decide to do a swap - without buying the software?

There are so many DJ sites with blocks. I'm thinking that some people might want to swap, but they might not want the expense of the software.

Thank you Klue for posting information about the
Dear Jane quilt. I had seen it many times but didn't
know much about it. It is an ambitious project and I
can't wait to see the results!

    BTW, the fabric is lovely!

yes, i think many of the "beginner" type blocks could be figured out without the software.

also, people could check their library for the book and then just copy 1 or 2 blocks from the book to use for the swap.

I'm thinking a Dear Jane swap would be a good way to decide if I want to make a Dear Jane quilt. The blocks are small, but some of them still have a LOT of pieces. For a swap, we might want to just 'dip our toes in the water' and go for the simplest blocks, so that everyone puts in about the same amount of blood, sweat and tears - not to mention new words said to our innocent sewing machines LOL
