I remember my son helped me piece his patriotic quilt when he was 8 years old. He still tells people that he help make his quilt. He is now 28 years old. My other son learned to cross stitch and in the Navy, he sewed on his own patches and got paid to sew on other seamen's patches. I say "teach them boys to take care of themselves." That includes sewing buttons and heming pants. Boys also enjoy getting home made items like quilts and pillows.

thanks Everyone! Yes they are very proud of their pillows. Angie says Devon has slept with his ever since he made it. He made his a couple of weeks ago. I didn't tell you the funny part! I also had Colton when I did Devon's pillow. Devon is a little daddy to Colton. He feeds him and changes his diapers and plays with him and takes care of him so Mom can take a break sometimes. He loves to grab him up and take him to his room and have Colton watch him. Here he put him on the couch beside him and had him be his 'partner" in playing Nintendo LOL So the day we did the pillow I was holding Colton while Devon sewed and when I needed to be hands free to cut the fabric or pin for him Devon took Colton. We passed him back and forth the whole time we were doing the pillow! LOL I finally got him to sleep and could work with free hands. But Colton was in the middle of making Devon's pillow!
We just made Daymon's pillow this last Thurs. I went and got Daymon for the aft and we made the pillow. He enjoyed the sewing and was really happy with how it turned out.
