I finished the top and decided to start a small child's quilt to go with it from the leftover fabrics and blocks. I am going to give them both to our local Ronald McDonald House when they are quilted.

I only bought $6 worth of fabric for this, and I have a lot of that leftover, so basically I could say this is my Scrap Challenge quilt for 2008, but I am sure I will make more.

The quilt top is leaning against the wrong side of the dark green backing fabric on a mattress. The hearts and vine fabric are the outer edge of the quilt.

    :D

Oh, it's soooooo pretty. I love the colors you chose. Great pattern too. $6.00 worth of fabric?!! I'm amazed! The recipient(s) will be thrilled to receive your piece of art.

That is wonderful! It's theme is so perfect for where you're donating it. Something like "We want you to feel at home while you're here."

    That is the sentiment exactly!!!

It is amazing how making this to donate, instead of for money or for family or myself, is SOOOO REWARDING! I can't wait for the two to be quilted so I can take them over there!

I'll post more pics on this thread when the baby quilt is done!

    Thanks everyone!
    Wendy

It is so nice of you to donate to them... My family up in Indiana had to stay in one for 3 months because my Nephew was in the children's hospital in Indianapolis.. Now every year they go the 1st of December and decorate the Ronald McDonald house for Christmas.. Then the end of the first week in January they go and take it all down and clean it.. They also have a fund raiser every year in November starting the day he was born..

I never thought about doing some quilts.. I really should follow your lead and do a couple to send along with the money I donate.. It is a personal touch...They really helped my family out... My family and I will always be grateful for the Ronald McDonald Houses..

You are a very special person to think of them...
