GREAT NEWS! Sew happy for you.......I hope you didn't forget to clean and oiled the oldie but goodie machine. If it is indeed a Kenmore, they are old workhorses. I know cuz I still use my 20+ yr old Kenmore for repairing my horse blankets and wouldn't hesitate to use it for regular sewing/quilting.....but, 1st a real good cleaning and oiling. LOL Love your bargello and the colors are terriffic. Jinnie

Yes, things are looking up around here! The new sewing machine is a Coronado Automatic Zigzag and it's in a cabinet. That's what I couldn't remember what it was called.
I just finished sewing a bunch of the strips together and the machine is working fine. I am sooooo glad! We also got a new dining room table and it is bigger than the last one so I now don't have as much floor space. I'm going to lay out what I do have sewn though and take a picture so you all can see. Plus, I'll know how this is going to fit on my floor now. Back soon.

Ok,here's a picture of what I got sewn. It is still in 4 pieces, to make it easier to sewn on. I'll make it in 4 sections and then sew them together. Oh, I am so glad to be sewing again!!!! I was going through 'withdrawals'! LOL
    Glad to be back!

The 4 sections that I have sewn so far. 3-31-10

Hi everybody! I'm back working on the Bargello. I've got more pictures of what I've been doing. I laid it all out again and finished making the strips to make it as wide as the first side. (1st pic)

At the far side by the stove, I took the 2nd strip and pinned it to the first, where it'll be sewn. 4th to 3rd, etc. I did this through row 8, (16 strips) and then there is Strip #9. On the first side I did, I sewed 17 strips, so this will match up when I sew all the strips together. Is that clear as mud? (2nd pic)

I have started 'unsewing' the strips where needed and then resewing them to another piece to make the long rows needed.
This gave me the upside down V there. (3rd pic)

Where I have started unsewing and resewing each strip to make the pattern.

The first picture here is the section that I have resewn so far. I have a few more to do.

The second picture shows how it lines up with the completed sections I did on the first side.

In the third picture you can see how you leave one more color each time before sewing the start of the new strip.
I'm stopping the sections on the left at the rose color, so this is the start of another wedge to fill in later.

How this section will line up with the rest

Lovely colors! I just finished a bargello roman shade and discovered a wonderful trick (from this site maybe?) to keep bargello pieces organized while in process: hang all the pieces on one of those portable racks used for drying clothes. It made all the strips really easy to keep track of!
