I would lov to see some close ups on your baskets to see how you did your great color combinations!! I cut more fabric last night and since they were scraps, didn't cut on the bias. Am thinking that it won't matter on this project and they seem to wrap just find. I do seem to use alot of glue since I wrap all of the fabric on the rope first and then just sew. You mentioned not doing that. Do you just wrap as you go?

Yes, I wrap about 2 feet of rope and then clip on a spring type clothespin to hold the end. Then I sew and then I wrap again.

As for the color combinations, you wouldn't believe the fabrics that I used! Small prints, chosen for the most prominent color in them. When I thought I had enough rounds in the basket of one color, then I switched to another. Just went by eye.

I found Wal-Mart the cheapest place to buy it. The price has gone up - is now $3.87 for 100 feet. Comes on a little plastic frame and is usually hanging from pegboard. I prefer the rope I can get at K-Mart - a little thicker, and more expensive. If you buy it at the hardware stores you will REALLY pay for it. It is now cotton covered with a poly core (not 100% cotton any more). I like making place mats and have made several sets - some match, some are multicolored.

Have attached pictures of some of the things I've made. No pictures, but I've made several table runners - at least 3 feet long.
