Aren't they neat?? These are my collection of photos primarily for inspiration! I wish I had made all these but no way!! I do make most of my own patterns for quilts and I love designing/decorating and some of my patterns are posted on this thread. I've collected these photos since the late '80's of blocks I love. The houses are so unique in each country!! Yes, after seeing all these, it sure makes you want to jump right in and make some!! Thank you for your interest and special words! They are appreciated! Check out Maria's blocks from NZ who just posted hers!! They are exciting in color and design!! Have never seen any like these! Thanks so much!! Be sure and post your wonderful creations so we can all enjoy them!! We love it!!

    :-D :-D

Maria, your houses are great. I followed the directions, sorta, that were given in the link for Housing Projects but my houses aren't nearly as straight as yours. Did you just wing it with your patterns for houses? You've done a great job and now I am addicted to houses as well as doll quilts! Geez, will it ever stop? It's tough being a Gemini cause I have so many addictions and they all seem to be WIPs or UFOs in some cases. :(

N2, when we were in Charleston I loved their houses and also the brick laid streets. I want to enlarge a picture that I have similar to the one you posted of the houses. I would also like to add a brick street to my Charleston house blocks......hmmmmm.

Thanks ladies. The quilt pattern is made from a book I love called "Stitch and Split Applique" by Jayme Crow and Joan Segna. The houses are pieced however. I have made another one in her book with leaves and plan to do the sunflowers at some point. I love spliting blocks and getting the great scappy effects. Will post more pics when I am further along. Might be a while of course but who knows.
Thanks for the support. I am enjoying this site a lot. Heaps of great inspiration everywhere you look.

Thanks for the info on the book! Know lots of people will love looking into that! Wondered where you got the idea of splitting the houses and thought maybe they were a reflection of some houses painted that way in NZ. I know in some countries the houses are painted in all different colors which reflects whether the taxes have been paid or not on the house so the authorities can quickly identify the poor. Your fabrics are just beautiful and we are so impressed with the diversity of these houses! We look forward to seeing more of your work and we wait patiently. Kudos!! :-D ;)
