My friend did love this quilt immensely. One problem I had making it was that everyone in church wanted to say just the right thing, they all loved her so much, so it took several weeks to get everyone's notes and signatures. Everyone in church from Pastor on down to my 3 year old granddaughter who only made one hump on her M wanted to let the lady know we loved her and were praying for her.

We talked alot as she was getting sicker, and she told her family that I was to get the quilt when she died. But, her daughter has kept it, even after it came up in a conversation and she said she thought I would want it back. But, I have never seen it. I just hope that daughter is loving it as a reminder of Mom, and not that the great grandkids are dragging it around. Oh, well, give it and it is no longer mine, huh?

I just hate the thought of something so unique and expensive would not be appreciated.

I just absolutely LOVE cyanotype printing! I LITERALLY giggle every time I do it. My hubby laughs at me.

It is very simple to do and quick. Basically you have pretreated fabric, apply either objects to block exposure (like set a starfish or something on the quilt, and the fabric underneath will not be exposed) or you can do photos.

I take my photos to Kinkos and have them do it as a negative on transparency film. Then, I lay the film on the fabric, expose it to the sun, rinse it and WAA-LA! It is done.

I always buy my fabric here: http://www.blueprintsonfabric.com/ this is a great company. I just tried their colored cottons last year, and had lots of fun, but usually I just use the white cotten, which makes blue prints. You can see the closeup of Lily praying in the butterfly and Decade of Love in the gallery.

For the Decade of Love quilt, I took the blue printed fabric, did a couple more steps and changed it to brown.

Another quilt I did with this techinique:http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-80382-1.htm it is supposed to be in the gallery soon too.
