    I just measured the checkers and used twice that measurement to decide the size of the squares, cut 32 of each color, and put it together alternating colors. Layered it, and SID. That's all I did. Super simple, and with a kids plastic pencil box, (8" x 5" x 3") it has a case to hold the rolled up board and checkers.

    I just had a brain storm. If I ever make another! I will insert small washers from the hardware store in each square, then put button magnets in the back of the checkers, so the game would be truly portable! The quilted board would still be hand washable too.
