    Default My Favourite Quilt

I finally finished this quilt. It was quite the journey. It started with a minky backing that my mom bought for Christmas in 2009. I matched fabric to go with it from a pattern in a magazine. The quilt was a square and so I made it up and decided it was too small, so went back (to the states I might add) and got the tiny bit more fabric I needed to add another row. The problem was that I had used a piece from my mom's stash in it (white with little black polka dots in even rows), but hey its a common fabric I'll be able to get it anywhere..... WRONG! Took me a long time, long time and many stores to find it. Was giving teeny pieces of it to people to keep theirs eyes open for me. Finally found it on a trip to Nova Scotia in a little quilt shop off the beaten path in a kit for a table runner. Purchased it and finally finished the quilt top.

Took me a while to get around to quilting it (was scared to use the minky backing), but finished it recently and absolutely love it. Only wish it was a little bigger to go on my bed.... next on the wishlist is a bed size quilt with minky backing!!!

It bothers me a little that the pattern is not symmetrical vertically, but what can you do!

Beautiful colors. I can't believe you went through all that for a bit of fabric! You are so much more patient than I can imagine I've ever be. Guess you'll need it if you're going to tackle a bed size Minky quilt! See, that's where my impatience does me in....I wouldn't even consider it. You could handle it though, if this quilt is any indication--you did a beautiful job.

Wow that is a great minkee! Love the quilt - colors, pattern, everything! I didn't notice anything being off vertically...?

Your quilt is beautiful! It must be very cozy with the minkee backing! Great job!

What I meant was that it is different in each direction, in the picture the top row has 2 pink blocks and a green block, but if you flip it over it has 1 pink block and 2 greens. My brain seems to think it would be more visually appealing if it was the same in both orientations.

Very pretty. Sometimes we drive ourselves crazy for no reason.

I think it's gorgeous and looks like you planned the pattern the way it is! I had to go back and see what you meant by the colors not being even but they looked like they were meant to be that way. Very appealing to my eyes! You've been looking at it to long! Way to be faithful too, that you'd one day find the fabric you needed!
