It looks wonderful. I'm just finishing up my first paper piece project that isn't a Judy Niemeyer (that one is waiting for someone to help me since I didn't finish in the class) and I am very happy with it. I agree with you about the joins. Mine aren't perfect either.

    It's a beautiful block.
For a 1st time PPing effort, you are well on the way to a PPing pro!

As already said, a little practice with the pins to get the points lining up and you will have your PP perfection!

I stab the pins through, matching up the required points, all along a seam line.
Make sure the pins are all standing vertical.
Then I use the little Wonderclips to hold it all in place.
Next, I remove the picket fence (all the vertical pins) .... and stitch along with my machine.

    Good Luck!

My first attempt went in the trash. I did not allow for enough fabric to cover the next spot! Tried again and came out fine. Yours is great and love the colors.

That's a beautiful block & I love the colors. I so want to learn to pp but just am not there yet. Your block will look great in the quilt.

Beautiful block. Those points are sometimes hard to match no matter what.
You can try basting first (longer stitches) then when everything
looks good, use small stitches and sew over it.
