A quilt frame is used when quilting - not laying out the sandwich. Lots of people use the floor because they don't have big enough table space. Others go to a church or library and push tables together.
The backing needs to be taped down - snug but not too snug.
The batting is next - smooth it down nicely.
The top is next - smooth well.
I pin from the center out - about a hand width apart.
I've got 2 baby quilts I need to do that to this week as a goal.
I think you did a great job on your first FMQ - I've only SITD myself.

Great job..and it was quilted with love...That makes it even more special..Try to remember to put a label on it...It should say who made it, and for whom it was made and the date...Or, simply sign and date it on the back with a permanent pen...I think your friend will like that little extra...
