This is my work in progress quilt. It is 8 x 9 blocks (80 x 90). I have not sewn the blocks together yet. Will start that today. I am going to be adding a 5" border and then another color 5" border (10" borders total) to finish it off. I am planning tieing it to a fleece backing with no batting. I will be using this on our king size bed.

Any recommendations on the kind of fleece to get? Are there different kinds? I just don't have the money to have this monster quilted professionally. And these are all scraps that I had from previous quilts made. So the only money spent is going to be for the backing and what ever I need for ties. I acutally have a 40% off coupon for Joann's that I am going to get the backing with tonight.

Any feed back would be great.

    Thanks a bunch.
OMG!!! and WOW!!! That is Georgeous!!! Beautiful Quilt!!  :XD:

Wow I love your top it came out beautiful. Try Hobby Lobby if you have one in your area. They have great fleece selections and also offer an online coupon of 40% off about every other week. Also the fleece is at least 60/90 inches wide so that will help with your backing. Or hit some garage sales for a suitable blanket that can be used as backing since your are going to tie it. I know what you mean about $$ quilting can get very expensive.

    Wow, thank you everyone!

I am rethinking the tieing it part now. I just called the local quilt shop that I have used with past quilts. She gave me an approximate cost for quilting and batting...Approx. $90 to quilt, and $25-$40 for batting. Since I have not put any money really into this quilt so far (all left over scraps from other quilts I've done) I don't think that is tooooo bad, is it? I wonder if I can get the batting at Joann's a bit cheaper? I really like the work that these ladies have done on my quilts in the past. And I really don't mind supporting small businesses....

    More input ? :)
