I cut my strips 2" --- I wanted fairly large blocks so I would only need 30 --- it was kind of a 'last minute' request from my hubby's boss- for his daughter for Christmas- he called & asked 2 days before Thanksgiving- how do you tell hubby's boss No, I don't have time? but I didn't have time- so I figured out if I made 16" blocks I could get it the correct size with 30 blocks, 5 across, 6 down- and I got busy- now just label it, and send it out the door- and back to finish the other commitments I had before his (interrupted my schedule) it wasn't near as bad to make as I had *convinced myself* it would be- and I am happy with the way those colors work together- I was cringing when the man said purple & yellow- I never would have considered such a combination--- good for us when someone *(forces us out of our comfort zone)*

Really pretty, love the color combo. Log cabin is one of my favorites. Bet you would love to keep it for yourself instead of giving it to the Boss but I'm sure he or she will cherish it.
