    Default My first quilt (blanket)

This is the first quilt(blanket) I have attempted and completed. I plan to give this to my 5 year old grandson (soon to be 6). I am calling it a blanket because I did not use batting but just the two layers of pillow ticking and denim (each block). It is heavy enough for our southern climate!! I used my Janome MC9700 which I have only had about 3 months and have embroidered several items!! Front: pillow ticking with Monsters & Robots appliques purchased from Smartneedle, also Rocket Ships appliques from Bunnycup Embroidery. Back: denim squares with Alien Invasion Redwork from SWAKembroidery (designed by Heartstrings Embroidery) also with planets from Out of this World (a free download from Bunnycup). Currently working on a dresden plate quilt for my guest bedroom (queen size) using sunflower colors. Hope to machine quilt the dresden plate quilt (never done it before but plan to take a few lessons)!! ...

Very, very cute. If it has fabric and a pattern I call it a quilt. Blankets are a whole nuther thing. This is just me.

I agree with Jingle, it's a quilt. You did a great job and I'm sure that your grandson will absolute love it.

It has a pieced top and layers - it's a quilt. And a cute one at that!!
