Default My first quilt!

This is my first quilt ever! I made it from jeans that my wife had shrunk out of. Back in August 2017, we began a lifestyle change. It enabled her to lose 95 pounds and shrink 8 sizes. I decided to take up quilting to take my mind off of wanting to eat. I've been able to lose 137 pounds so far. Between what my mother taught me as a child, this website and YouTube videos. I think it came out fairly decent. The wife wants to get me a sewing machine but I really enjoyed doing it by hand. Thanks for letting me brag for a minute.

p.s. I really appreciate all of the people on here that have been so nice to me. Thank You.

You really deserve to brag about the quilt and the story. Both are wonderful. You and your wife should both be very proud of yourselves. Love your quilt.

Wow, you sewed denim by hand! Let your wife buy you a machine you obviously have quilting talent! You might enjoy watching the YouTube videos from the Quilting Marine.

Congratulations on the weight loss and your first quilt. Wow! Did you really mean your wife has lost that much since August of 2017? Or was that a typo? That was only 8 months ago! And 137 for you ?

doing things by hand can be therapeutic. a quilt is a quilt, by hand or machine. I want to make another jeans quilt!

Hey! Thanks for sharing! You are bound to be encouraging others. :-)
By hand! I hope you used strong thread. :-) I love to see guys quilting. With ready-made clothes, there aren't so many professional tailors around anymore. It's wonderful to see the creativity from men in the sewing field too. I hope you keep up your hobby. You will be amazed what you can do with a machine, if you want to try that too.
