    Lisa, I did half square triangles, cut those apart, turned then so the seams were nested with each other and did hst's again, perpendicular to the seams. That way you aren't dealing with a lot of biased edges. I don't know if that's the best way, but it worked great for this one. To end up with a 6" hour glass block, I started with 7" squares, trimmed those hst's to 6.5", made the hour glass and trimmed to 6".

    Fabulous! I've seen this pattern and felt very 'meh' about it but with that consistent background and bright block choice---I adore it! Perfect baby quilt! I gotta get a few made...hmmm mind if I copy your idea here?
