It got put on the back burner several times while my husband and my mother were ill. Then after they both died this summer, every time I started working on it I would cry. But, I finally got the top completed. Today, I ordered the backing, which will be Northcutt's Stonehenge Blue wide backing. It has the same colors as the top does. I am glad to be at this stage with this quilt. I so badly want it done. Everytime I thought I was finished, I stood back and looked. Never seemed quite finished to me, so I kept adding fish and other things. After the quilting is done, I plan to add some coins to the chest and crystals throughout the quilt. Oh, and necklaces for the mermaids. My sister painted the coral at the bottom and they are appliqued also. I'm not an artist by any means, so my mermaids are not the prettiest.
Your Quilt is SOooooo Stunningly Ausume, Terrific, Wonderful, Beautiful etc, ect!!!! I could never imagine makeing such an ausome Quilt!! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. That is such a wonderful quilt. I am so sorry for your loss, as well. I lost my dad the summer of '09. I am still not dealing with it well. I am glad you are quilting. I had no motivation for it for a year. It feels so good to get back into it. It is healing.
