I brought it home and tried it out and it works great!!! Does anyone out there have one of these machines? Why do the call it slant needle? Any info would be great. I priced them on ebay and some are going as high as $300.00.

I have been sewing on my 404 since I bought it used back in 1975. I used to sew all my clothes, then my two children came along, and I made a lot of theirs, then I got into making soft toys, then I discovered quilting about 12 years ago, and I piece my tops and machine quilt them on this and it just keeps humming along with just love and a little oil. I have quilted one oversize king, and five doubles, about five or six twin size, and many, many lap tops and wall hangings. All on this wonderful machine. I just bought myself a Brother that can do some fancy stitches, but still do all my piecing and quilting on this same machine. I would never, ever, trade it away. In fact, I want to get my hands on at least one more to have in case this old workhorse ends up out to pasture! Good Quilting to you, you will love her.
