That is so lovely. I know how much work went into it. I like how you did your borders.

True4uca, I struggled with how to "square off the corners". What I ended up doing was folding the hexes down & then placing the border fabric aligned with the folded edge & sewing it down. Then I just hacked off the extra hex fabric. Hope that makes sense.

Linda, I used 2inch patis (measured across the widest part).

Josie, I used Quilt Pati's by Pati Shambaugh. They are plastic templates, available in local quilt shops. I also had a package from JoAnn's that are white plastic, but I found them stiffer & more difficult to remove once the fabric was basted onto them. The border on my quilt was my own design.

I love this quilt, and I think the folks from the 30's and 40's would have loved it, too. I have an old GFG quilt that dates to that era, and I was pulling back on the binding one day to see how it was sewn and discovered that in the deep areas not exposed to light the original green was much brighter than the overall pale green it is today. I don't know how stable some of the other colors were at that time, but that green definitely faded. So it means that the quilter originally chose a brighter color, much closer to the green you used in your "garden paths".
