    I just found this pattern at redroosterfabrics.com. It is a retired pattern and can be downloaded free!

    Yes it is a form of applique.. Much easier than the way my mom taught me many years ago.. I love to work on it while the family watches TV at night..

    The pattern is one that I found online, I chose to do it with needle turn but it could also be machine appliqued..
