I love that quilt, it's so happy and exudes so much energy. I am working on restoring an old quilt for my dear DIL, it's a whole different experience for me when I am working on an antique quilt rather than making a new one from new fabrics or my scraps. I feel like I'm a link in the history of the old quilt, and I do a lot of thinking about who the original maker might have been as I work on her handmade treasure.

It is truly beautiful! I love your artistic workmanship and the wonderful history and love story in the quilt.

Thanks for your kind comments, everybody...gotta love this board! I did do lots of thinking about who the maker could be. My mom loved rummage sales and garage sales, so I wondered if she picked it up somewhere, but I kept going back to my grandmother.....her signature stitches from her poor arthritic hands. Some of her fingers would not straighten out, but she loved sewing so much and especially hand stitching. It wasn't until the quilt was finished that we solved the mystery, but that's good because it just sealed what I already felt in my heart.

Wonderful. Thank you for the rescue.

What an unusual pattern. I have never seen that one.
