as you all loved seeing my grandma's quilts, I though I'd show you the three quilts we have that my great grandma made. She worked in a sewing mill so had access to a large amount of "scraps" (lucky!) and would make quilts out the wazoo! She would hand piece and quilt them but I believe she might have been part of a group in order to get all of them quilted as they are all queen sized quilts.

This one was made for my aunt who when recently redecorating her house decided it no longer when with the decor. It then became mine because if I didn't want it, she was going to take it to goodwill. But she recieved it when she was a teen

This one is a kind sized one and given to my mom on her wedding day. As she has a full sized bed, it is currently rolled up in a cedar chest where no one can see it :(

My mom got this one when she was a teen, and used it quite a lot. The white fabric is now frawing and I would like to fix it, but feel like I would ruin the quilt

this one is sadly unfinished and no one wants to finish it for fear of devaluing the quilt.

my great grandma on the the other side made this one for my grandma on her wedding day. It's 2 peices of heavy white cloth neatly hand quilted.

here's a close up of some of the stitching

I have one of my great grandmother's quilts. After my grandmother died, I found it in her closet folded up behind some boxes. It was torn and the rats had gotten to it, but as I looked closer, I realized that there was another quilt that was underneath. She had put a new quilt top on top of an old one. It was stuffed with cotton that she had gathered up out of the field. My great aunt says that she remembered great grandma making that quilt. It even had burs inside of it. I do treasure it very much. Yours are beautiful!!!!!!

I've decided that when I get older and I have my own house, I'm going to need like 4 or 5 guest rooms with quilt racks in each to display all the heirloom quilts and afghans that keep finding their way to our house (my aunts feel that between my mom and me we could better appreciate them! lucky us!) and that's after I let my brother have one or two, maybe three :)

Wow, no way if any of those had been in my home (your aunts quilt) would I have even thought of sending it to goodwill. Those are beautiful and so well done. Matching decor or not. The family history alone. Well im glad you were able to keep it.
