You are SO right about that. I was raised by kerosene and fire light, yet we
managed to do a full day's work during day light.
One of my most treasured memories is of my little Grandma, sitting in her
rocking chair with some sewing in her lap, leaning a little towards the lamp
or fire place so she would have enough light to finish sewing. Beside the chair
on the floor would be a little glass of elderberry wine that she had made, and it would last her all night till she went to bed. I guess that was her idea of an after dinner cocktail!!

Are these 2" squares? Can't imagine having enough time to hand sew all these beautiful quilts.

You are fortunate indeed to have these treasures in your home.
All my Granny's disappeared the day we were at the funeral home make her arrangements, as did all her antique dishes. I would love to have just one of her handiworks.

Almost the same here!!!!!!No one seems to know where all my grannies stuff went to either....(I think it is at one of my cousins house and I know Grannie had 10 in the closet on my last visit. I was lucky that I had one she made and one we made together when I was younger.) You are so very lucky to have these beautiful treasures.....AND it sounds like you will treasure and appreciate each one and the time and love that went into making them.

What a treasure you have!! I can see why the last one is your absolute favorite!! I'm a hand-quilter and I do appreciate the work put into these quilts! What's going to happen to them when you're gone? Pass them my way, just kidding, unless....!
