Ladies, I thank you very much for the compliments. I must be completely honest -- I did not do the embroidery work, except for the four corner roses. My 89-year old aunt embroidered the blocks. I ended up with them -- and managed to save them. I have no idea actually when my aunt embroidered the blocks -- it could have been 30+ years ago. I squared the blocks because they were horribly wonky! I bought the sashing, fabric for the drapes, and valance, assembled the blocks, and appliqued the large script "F" for the Frantz name. At the time my aunt did the embroidery, there were 50 states. I assembled the blocks in alphabetical order. There are 6 blocks horizontally by 9 blocks vertically. The sashing was cut 3" wide, and the borders are 8" wide. Because there would have been a very awkward-looking quilt, I did add the embroidered roses in each of the four corners. I determined that the quilt would be a "spread", with matching drapes and bed skirt, so the quilt became 81" X 117" total.
If anyone has any questions, please send me a pm and I'll try to answer them, although I'm sure most of you know more about quilting and/or piecing quilts than me! Thank you again.
Jeanette
