Well, my husband's birthday was yesterday. I wanted to make him something special. We had attended the race in Bristol TN. He loves Nascar by the way, we both do, but he's a little more of a fanatic than I am. LOL. I found some Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Fabric at Walmart on sale for $3.00 a yard so I bought it all. LOL. YOu can never be so sure they will have it again later on...This was the end result of the night I stayed up until 2 am snipping (the longest part of the quit was the snipping..well worth it though)...I couldn't start working on it until he left for work at 8pm. So as soon as he left, I started cutting, sorting, sewing, and snipping.

His matching birthday cake that Miranda (Buttercreamcakeartist) made him

What a beautiful gift. I agree that the clipping is the worst part, but your finished result is sure a "winner". My son is into Nascar racing too, and I just made him a "dew-rag" (fabric head covering) for his motorcycle riding from Nascar fabric. If I'd have been to Walmart before you, I'd have bought it all! Hey! I missed this post yesterday!?!?!
Awesome quilt. I got the same fabric at WM at Weston a few weeks ago. I almost bought it all at $3.00/yard bc I figured it was way more expensive than that, but since it was only $3.96 originally, we decided to get 5 yards of each. I also got the flag. I didn't get any red checks, though! LOL!

I just posted a pic of the cake, too. I didn't know you already had! LOL!
