    Your 5" squares will work great on this for the HST's!
    The largest block is cut at 8.5"; the HST's are made to be 4.5" when made, finish at 4". Everything except the large block and the borders is made with the HSTs, so you too can be an HST queen when you finish making it!! LOL
    Your finished block will be 16".

    Thanks! My secret is that the seam where I joined the two sections to make that strip was very noticeable so I put that on there to cover the seam.
