My Lil Twister baby quilt
#1
I just finished the quilt and had so much working on this quilt. The quilt is a project I worked on for the group, Threads of Love. We make baby items for the infant intensive care units at the area hospitals.
I made my own templates that had been cut at a autoglass shop. I did find that there was a 40-50% loss in size from the starting size but it still was a fun project and would do it again. Chris

Thanks, for the kind comments! I had so much fun working on this quilt, but learned one thing; only cut one row at a time and sew that row before cutting another. Didn't get ahead of yourself and cut more rows; its so easy to get lost, which block and what row comes next!!!
Its amazing how a photo changes what the quilt really looks like. One of the fabrics has blue, white and yellow flowers. In the photo, the yellow flowers hardly show at all but looking at the quilt; the yellow flowers really stand out and match the yellow pinwheels. Chris

I have made about 20 twister quilts and wallhangings. I found these Dritz markers that have safety pins with letters A-Z beads to use with the safety pins. I cut one row, stack them in the order of sewing and attach a marker to the top. I prefer numbers but haven't found any. You are correct when you say how careful you have to be to keep them in order. I knocked three stacks of rows over on the floor one day, it was like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. The only saving grace was there were no duplicates of the colors, and I could put an 'arm' with a 'leg' and was able to figure out the right placement. I really enjoy the twisters and love using batiks in the ones I make.
