    What about the color of the medium blue border? seems it would look good doing your feathers in that meduim blue, If you want to see the texture first and then the quilting as you get closer to the quilt. If you have some scrap of the lighter blue border,make a sandwich and get some thread the color of the med. blue border and do some freemotion quilting on it to see if you like it. Try this with a lot of colors till you are happy a particular color. just an idea!

    Your quilt and quilting are beautiful. It is so easy to second guess yourself. Personally, I wouldn't consider taking out a lot of hand quilting. It is too much time and work. I love it as it is. You'll have to do what makes you comfortable with it.

    This brings one to the question, Which is more important...the design and piecing of the top or the emphasis on the quilting? I vote for the grey thread as it adds a subtle elegance, the quilting work is beautiful and but does not detract from the design.
