Sylvia, I love that old pattern on your bed. What is the history? Grandma made it? I have one with the same colors but it is a Grandmothers Dresden plate. And my grandma did make it.

Jan, that is a quilt I quilted for a customer. The top was pieced by her great grandmother who died in 1947. It was a beautiful top in great condition for its age. Not sure when it was made, but the green used in the sashing and borders was common in the 1930's. The prints may have been a combination of 30's and 40's. I'm fairly new to long arm quilting, but I did my best. She really loved it and put it on her bed. After I put it on my bed to take the pictures, I didn't want to take it off!

    Jan,
    that is one awesome quilt.

My DH is also a Coastie and I am going to make him a Mariner's Compass also. He requested lighthouses on the borders so I'm embroidering 12x12 blocks with different lighthouses and will put them on the borders... Because I am a very slow embroiderer and slow quilter... this is going to take some time... :p

From what I can see of the quilting it is lovely. Well done. This quilt is about the same age as mine and my grandma dies during WWII. Those quilts are so precious to me!

That is an absolute beauty - and how apt, a compass to guide a mariner through stormy seas. Love it.
