My Momma Sewed My Clothes
From her toddler to college days, I made her clothes. I saved the scraps, and they moved approximately twenty-five times over the years. I wanted those scraps to be a quilt for her some day. I was not a quilter but wanted to be.
I started trying to quilt in late 2002. I know I bought part of this in 2006, but don't actually know when I started.
The pattern is called Garden Girl. I hand embroidered the feet and arms and did a blanket stitch around the clothes. I finally decided if she was ever going to get this quilt in my lifetime, I would have to have it professionally quilted.
I did the binding over the past ten days, put the label on Christmas Eve, and gave it to her Christmas morning. It has truly been a labor of love.
She is now forty-five.

That is an amazing quilt. I know as a daughter how much this means to your daughter. She will treasure it always. You did such beautiful work and to have pieces of her childhood clothing in the quilt is such a wonderful history of your love for her. Congratulations on finishing it!
