My Mom's Quilt Show
#152
I love the idea of the friendship quilt. My 93 year old mother has a magnificient bureau scarf (or table runner) embroidered at her bridal shower with signatures of everyone there. From that idea, I have been scanning signatures of past/present family members who have been at our holiday tables over the years. I am going to embroider them onto a table cloth. Now that I have seen your friendship quilt, I may ask some family members to design some blocks for the borders. I also enjoyed the other quilts you posted. Thank you!

Wow! Your mother truly was a gorgeous quilt maker. In looking at the blocks her friends and relatives made for the anniversary quilt in 1987 shows they all had great imaginations and skill with a needle and thread. Loved seeing your mom's quilt show. Thank you for sharing.

The concept of friendship quilts were very common and also popular with the people we knew and our family. Some neighbors and all were not as familiar, so they got some help from needle workers they knew. My SIL had her sis do the one for her and my brother and the one for their children(the clown with Boyd, Brad and Jenny). Way over half of the people represented are no longer living, so that gives an idea of the age of many of the needle workers!
