I was doing the happy dance with every step that it was being made in the garage. I could picture it in my little sewing corner and couldn't wait for it to be finished. It only took him 2 weeks to finish it so I didn't have to wait that long. And yes I am still doing the happy dance! LOL

I have this feeling that there are going to be quite a few busy husbands around the country for the next few weeks! LOL. We didn't have any plans for this desk, just a bunch of ideas wrote on a piece of paper. It all started when I went to our local Bernina store and seen one of the desks there, but I wasn't about to drop a couple thousand on a desk.

My husband built the desk in 3 seperate sections (top, base cabniet, and the side with the sewing machine).
The top is 2 layers of 3/4 inch plywood and topped with a formica countertop (like kitchen counters). And trimed with oak. It will make for a nice smooth surface for machine quilting.

If any of you decicde to make one like this just make sure you measure your doorways first. we almost made a big mistake because I actually wanted the desk a little wider, but we found out that we wouldn't have been able to get it through the doors if we made it that big. And I don't want to sew in the garage LOL.

Well, Thank you so very much for sharing. I LOVE, LOVE your custom made sewing desk. You are very, very, very, lucky to have a wonderful husband. Mine would not make me one. Any chance that I could borrow yours after the holidays. lolol I was going to ask if you had plans for the making of the desk. Was it easy?? I would like to make one for myself. I LOVE LOVE LOVE all of the custom drawers. LUCKY LUCKY YOU.

    Have a blessed day.

Wow, that is really nice. Your husband does some lovely work. We should all be so lucky. Maybe he has found himself a little custom niche' to fit in.
