I recently bought a singer sewing machine from a lady on craigslist. When I went to pick it up, we chatted like we had known each other for years. She sews but doesn't quilt. She had this horse panel and she was making an attempt to get it turned into a wall hanging. She wanted to do some outline quilting on it but didn't know how. I told her I would be willing to come back and help her do it. I went this afternoon and had to rip out the edges she had sewn incorrectly and I helped her get it quilted. She was nervous about the quilting and asked me to finish it. So I did but I had her sew the straight lines!. I self bound it for her and she is tickled with it. She wanted to pay me but I told her no. Then she offered to pay in fabric. Now we were talking the right price!! She gave me some girly fabric and patterns as I am making some dresses for a friend of mine dgds. She has another panel she wants to do. I told her we will do that panel next time and the time after that, I would bring some squares and we will get her started piecing an easy quilt top. She almost cried! I think the wall hanging turned out well and can't wait to help her again and add another quilter to the world!!!

Yes. She is pretty lonely, and has had a lot of tragedy in her life. She admitted she didn't have any friends outside of her family. She was a joy to talk to and I love when I can get someone excited about quilting!!!

that's awesome! My mom has always told me God brings you to those you are meant to be with and there must have been a reason for you to find her add on Craigslist. There is a reason for everything and you may have just made a long life friend! I'm jealous how cool is that?

You are sew sweet to take her under your wing. Very nice of you to do that. Most people wouldn't take the time.
