I just got a old sewing machine from a thrift store for 20$. My dads camera is not working, :? but I found almost the exact machine on ebay.
It is a riccar sewing machine, very hard to find, with my search on google for manuals
Something I found very intresting, It works with scmetz universal 12/80 needles. It also works with the bobbin case and bobbins of my other sort of cheepie machine(a singer) I'm going to have it looked at, because of the motor smelling etc...
Anyway here is the link to the ebay twinhttp://cgi.ebay.com/RICCAR-SEWING-MA...86.m20.l1116onebay , and I am really looking forward to using it more then I have already. The stitches don't come out the same length, any way to fix it? Oh yes, I believe it is early 60s late 50s, about the same age as my mom(she is 53)

 HaHa, quilter101, I really had to laugh with that one. I bet your mom really appreciated her age being sent out on the web. You're such a sweetie, she'll probably forgive you right away. It is so wonderful that you are so excited about sewing and quilting. I just think that's the greatest thing. Good luck with your new find. I'm sure you'll find someone who can help you get that machine going like a charm. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I think it's high time for me to get my hubby's find (a very old Singer treadle machine) tended to so that I can use it. I learned to sew on an old Blue Grass electric machine, then used a treadle machine in Home Ec class before we were allowed to use the "electrics."
    By the way, I'm 68  .

Happy sewing and a very Happy New Year.
