Thank you for the video ctub and you offer of help for her.
Thank you Montanajan, I have found the shuttle bobbins on ebay still looking for the belt.
Thanks Jammin'Jane I really think I will enjoy her very much. She makes a beautiful stitch by turning the wheel by hand.

Hello everyone,
I have just joined having found this website through Youtube - I wanted to see how viewers had found my video, which is the one recommended by ctub. I'm delighted to have helped you CarolLady. I have used the hand machine that belonged to my mum for the first two videos I put on Youtube. It is a Singer 28K manufactured in 1897. Unfortunately it hasn't got the original decals. If you like vintage machines keep an eye on our channel - Muvandfarve. The next video I intend to make (ably assisted by my husband behind the camera) will be about adjusting the tension on a long bobbin machine.
From what I can see there are a lot of old treadle machines in the USA and Canada, whereas hand machines were more common in Britain. This means we can collect more machines and take up less space....

she's a lovely machine. I've got a treadle that uses a shuttle bobbin. It's not terribly hard to use once you figure it out.
Best of luck - I would take the machine to be looked over, shouldn't be terribly expensive for a good lookover, probably under $100
