I was told that the 6600p is made in Japan and the 6600 is made in china and not as good a machine, I called around for price and bought mine last October 6600P for $1,250. I love it. It is as heavy as my Kenmore purshased 44 years ago. I never had it serviced and It ran 7 days a week for 19 years as I owned a bridal shop. still going strong every day

I just bought one a few weeks ago. Kept my Janome 3500 because I love it too. Haven't done much on my new one yet but have heard nothing but good about them and just about all Janome machines. Best of luck with your new machine.

I have learned so much from this group, it covers Janome 6500/6600/7700 machines. They are a fantistic group. Don't know how to do something and it is not in the manual? Just ask and someone will be able to help.
Enjoy your new toy. You are going to love it.

I do not know how to put links up here but I hope this will help.
Google yahoo groups, then click on yahoo groups home page selection. On the home page type in Janome in the search, the first one on the new page is the Janome 6500 group. Click and join.
